Pono has suffered a brain blood clot and must undergo emergency surgery.

Charlie see a station wagon, slowly roll past the shop, with a little girl strapped into a car seat, with no one behind the wheel. Charlie runs and hops in the car, and brings it to halt, just as it puts a dent in a brand-new parked Cadillac. Charlie tries to comfort the little girl as Sally comes out of a restaurant, yelling at Charlie for denting her new car. He explains what happened as the Mom of the little girl comes rushing over. They both hail Charlie as a hero and Sally asked Charlie out on a date.
Barbara, Dan’s Mom tells Donna about her son – and her only child. Donna recounts the events of Dan’s last day of life but does not tell her that she is pregnant with Dan’s baby.

Anela discloses to her school principal that she is giving safe haven to one of her water polo players, Liza, and her brother Mick, who are being threatened by their step-dad. The police get involved and their step-Dad is arrested. Mick screams at Anela for betraying them, but she had no choice because they are both still minors.
Stephanie has a healthy baby girl and finds herself in the same hospital as Pono, so she goes to Pono’s room to visit him, holding her baby.
Pono, fresh from surgery, does not come out of his coma for a week. Donna holds his hand and sings to him as he slowly wakes up. But he has no idea who she is – nor does he know his own name or recognize anyone else.
And Freddie discovers that Charlie did porn when he was a young man.

Pono comes back to the beach house as his dog, Chandler, happily runs up to greet him. Pono calls Chandler by name as everyone else looks at each other in shock – he can remember the dog’s name but not his family or friends.
Charlie goes on a date with Sally and he takes her to the last piano bar on Honolulu, where an old friend of Charlie’s, Billy, and his wife Brenda perform the classics. Charlie and Sally discover that they both went to the same college in Boston at the same time and were even in a public speaking class together. They enjoy a drink with Billy and Brenda after the show, and we find out that Brenda is Pono’s Aunt. Sally asks Charlie to spend the night.

Josh and his fraternity’s freshman pledge, Roger, go surfing together, along with Donna. Roger is from Huntington Beach, CA and a ranked surfer. All three vie for the best spots on the waves, and it’s clear that Roger can hold his own against two very accomplished surfers. Donna takes off to see her military shrink as they both hug her goodbye. Josh and Roger sit on the edge of the beach, watching the sunset and munching on protein bars. Roger, without saying a word, or looking at Josh, takes Josh’s hand. Josh jumps at first, but then settles down. They both sit silently, holding hands, munching and smiling.
Anela comes back to the beach house, only to find a window open and someone banging around in the house. She calls Stephanie, who tells her she is on her way over and to wait outside.
